Phishing with discipline notices; some lawyers are biting
Be careful what you click on. That’s the message the American Bar Association is giving to attorneys across the nation.
According to a June 23 report published by the ABA Journal, there’s been a significant uptick in phishing emails landing in lawyers email boxes. The emails, often purporting to be about discipline investigations, actually contain links to malicious software.
According to the report, more than 50 attorneys have received such emails – including 20 Nevada lawyers over the past month.
Another pitfall scammers are creating for lawyers is fake websites, which are made to look like state bar websites.
