New York de-authorizes chiropractors for DOT physical exams
As of June 1, Chiropractors in New York are no longer in the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners and are no longer permitted to perform Department of Transportation physicals, according to a June 2 report in Landline Magazine.
 The decision for the removal was based on the conclusion by the New York State Education Department that DOT physicals by chiropractors exceed scope of practice limits in the state.
Chiropractor charges for a physical exam are often lower than those from a doctor. According to the report, the New York chiropractic state board sees the issue strictly relating to scope of practice, not competency.
