EMT test-takers spike with advent of online exam
Recent changes made to EMT testing have created a ‘paradox’ for Maryland test-takers.
While the number of new emergency medical technicians continues to soar in the state and across the country, the number of individuals failing the new EMT test has also seen a dramatic increase, says an August 2015 news report by WBAL-TV 11, an NBC affiliate.
The new online test, administered by Pearson VUE, diverges from the previously administered paper exam in both format and content, according to the report.
But perhaps the biggest issue is the queue of candidates lining up to take the exam. Pearson VUE, which manages testing for a number of licensing professions, has doubled the number of test centers, but according to some, there is still a significant backlog.
