Allowing denturist practice may have benefits, FTC tells state
The Federal Trade Commission staff submitted a comment to the Kentucky legislature March 25, recommending the state hold licensing regulations in the field of dentistry to only those “necessary to ensure patient health and safety.”
The comment comes in response to proposed legislation that would regulate denturists in the state of Kentucky. Presently, only dentists can provide a patient dentures. Citing competition benefits, the FTC stated in their comment that the commission encourages “the legislature to carefully consider whether denturists can appropriately provide dentures, consistent with patient health and safety.”
