Panel requires review of three-time cap on exam attempts in case of nurse candidate who tested in “suboptimal” conditions

A candidate for licensing as a practical nurse who failed the entry examination a third time won an order to have her ineligibility reviewed, in a December 8 decision by the Ontario Health Professional Appeal and Review Board.

The candidate, M.K.P., took the examination twice in 2013 and once in 2019 but was unsuccessful on each attempt. Following the 2019 exam failure, the College of Nurses of Ontario informed her that her eligibility had expired because of her three-time failure pattern.
