FTC says yes to unsupervised APRNs for VA
The Federal Trade Commission says it supports a rule proposed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs that would allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses employed by the VA to practice without the supervision of a physician, circumventing many state laws. In line with other recent FTC opinions, the agency expressed concern in a July 25 comment that state supervision rules for APRNs raise competition concerns and raise the cost of treatment while limiting services.
